Point 1: The Internet Access Type
The type of internet connection plays a big role in availability, speed potential, and performance. Fixed connection types, as in a wire are connected directly to your home, including fiber-optic, coaxial cable, and DSL internet. Satellite internet, fixed wireless and the increasingly popular 5G home internet round out your potential wireless internet options. Depending on your type of internet, you may consider a specific model for your home:
For Typical Fiber-Optic and Coaxial Cable Internet
If you want to use a Deco, you might need to get a fiber or cable modem first (also called ONT/ONU, DOCSIS 3.0/3.1 cable modem) to convert the signal from your ISP. In most cases, the device is provided by your ISP when you subscribe to their service. With a Fiber-Optic ONT or Cable Modem, almost all the Deco products will work well for your connection.

For Fixed Wireless Internet (FWA)
Similar to 5G, fixed wireless providers send internet signals over the air. But unlike 5G, you'll need a mounted receiver with a direct line of sight to the nearest tower to receive those signals. Please click here to know more details about Fixed wireless internet.
Normally, Service providers will install an antenna or radio receiver at your home which communicates with the nearest wireless base station to give you fixed wireless access. All you need is to connect Deco via Ethernet cable to the Antennas and all Deco products are for your choice.
For Satellite Internet Providers
Satellite internet is the most widely available type of internet because it doesn't rely on ground-laid infrastructure like cables, cellular towers, or line-of-sight antenna connections. Instead, you'll often use a mounted dish to connect with geostationary satellites orbiting miles overhead. Starlink might be a rising star for satellite service and All the Deco products work well with Starlink.

Other than the internet connection type, there are other features that you might be interested in before purchasing.
Point 2: Networking Method
All Deco Models support wired and wireless backhaul (except Deco M3W). Under certain circumstances, such as where the house is separated by thick concrete walls, or the modem is located at the far end of the house, your satellite nodes may have difficulties establishing a wireless backhaul to the main unit.
In Most Cases, drilling holes in your walls and dragging a long Ethernet cable is not the optimal solution. For these situations, transmitting your backhaul signals via a powerline network would be the best option. Both the Deco P9 and Deco PX50 support Powerline backhauls, the Powerline Mesh Networks for your choice.

Point 3: Indoor/Outdoor POE/Mounting Installation
Most Deco products are designed for indoor use and need to be placed on a flat surface. Recently, we have released models that support PoE and Various Mounting Options.
The Deco X50-Outdoor can even be installed outdoors to expand your mesh network over longer distances, to other buildings, or simply to your pool.
