What Should I do if I’m Unable to Log In to The Web Interface of my TP-Link Wireless Access Point?

The web interface of a TP-Link Wireless Access Point is used primarily for setting up or managing the Access Point. However, if you have trouble logging in to the web interface, please use the steps outlined in this article.

Case One: For first-time installation or Reinstallation

1) Check The Physical Connection

Make sure your client device (smartphone, laptop, etc.) is connected to the Access Point instead of the main router, or other networks. If you are using a mobile phone or tablet, turn off mobile data or VPN, if applicable.

2) Check the TCP/IP Settings of the Client Device

If using a computer, ensure its network TCP/IP settings are configured to obtain an IP address automatically.

Windows Example:

3) Verify that the Access Point’s management address is correctly entered in the web browser.

You can use either http://tplinkap.net or to log in to the web interface of your TP-Link Access Point for initial setup.

4) Disconnect the Access Point from your main router

If the above steps are unsuccessful, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable between the main router and Access Point, or just power off your main router, then try again.

5) Reboot your Access Point and try again

6) Use another web browser and try again

7) Reset the Access Point to factory defaults (recommended for reinstallation)

Case Two: The Access Point is working, but you want to log in to modify or manage the device

1) Ensure the Internet connection from the AP is working.

If the Internet doesn’t work when connected to the Access Point, please refer to Case One above to log in to the web interface and install it first, or refer to What should I do if I fail to configure TP-Link Access Point?

2) Find the current IP address of the Access Point

If the AP has been configured with a Static IP, please confirm whether that static IP is in the same subnet as your main router. For example, if your router LAN IP is with a subnet mask of, then it is recommended to use 192.168.1.X on the AP. However, if the static IP you set for the AP is 192.168.0.X, which is in a different subnet than your router, you will not be able to use 192.168.0.X to access the AP. In such cases, you will need to either configure a static IP on your client device (e.g., PC) to 192.168.0.X to access the AP or reset the AP to factory defaults to set it up again.

However, if you haven’t set a static IP for the AP, your main router will assign a new IP address to the AP, once it is connected to your main router, thus the default IP address may not work. In this case, you will need to locate the new IP address of the AP on your router’s web interface or App, generally in a menu referred to as the DHCP Client List.

3) Use the current IP address of the AP to access its web interface

Using your router’s DHCP Client List feature, locate the Access Point’s currently assigned IP address, then enter the address in a web browser to access the AP’s management interface.

4) Recommendations for future management of the Access Point

Once you have logged in to the web interface of the AP, it is recommended to configure a static IP for the AP, and make sure it is within the same subnet as your main router.


If the router's LAN IP address is, it is recommended to configure static IP 192.168.1.X(X cannot be the same as the router) on the AP, such as or, etc. on the AP’s Network -> LAN page. Then, in the future, you can use to access your router and use 192.168.1.X to access the AP.
