This guide makes setup simple for everyone, covering helpful accessibility resources, what’s in the box, how it looks, and where to begin.

Our Tether app and web management page offers accessibility features, such as increasing page contrast, switching to landscape mode and increasing font size. You can enable them during router setup for an easier and more enjoyable experience! For more accessibility guidance, refer to Accessibility Support.

Note: For some models, Accessibility features will be supported by subsequent firmware upgrades.

Step 1. Learn About Your Router

This section introduces the router’s package contents and appearance, including its ports, buttons, and product label.

1. Unbox Your Router

Your package includes: a router, a usb cable, an Ethernet cable, and installation guides.

Ethernet Cable: A thick, smooth cord with a slightly stiff feel. It has a rectangular plastic connector at each end, with a small lever-like clip on top. To use it, align the connector with the Ethernet port on your device and push it in until you hear or feel a click. The clip helps secure the connection; you can press it down to remove the cable when needed.

USB Cable: The USB cable is used to connect devices like phones, computers, or chargers to transfer data or provide electrical power with rigid rectangular ends (USB-A).

2. Appearance

The router has a rectangular shape and is designed to sit flat on a surface, such as a table or shelf. It comes with two thin, adjustable antennas attached to the back or sides.

Locate small rubber footpads on the bottom of the router. With the footpads facing down, place the router on a flat surface. Rotate all antennas to point straight up for the best signal.

Face directly the side that has recessed rectangular ports aligned in a row. This side is the back panel. The ports and buttons are arranged from left to right as follows:

  • Power Port: Circular in shape. For connecting the router to a power socket via the provided power adapter.

  • Power Button: A round protruding button. To turn on your router, press it and wait about 2 minutes for the router to boot up. To turn off your router, press and immediately release it.

  • WAN Port: A nearly square port. For connecting to your modem, the Ethernet outlet or other internet devices.

  • LAN Ports (1-4): Four nearly square ports. For connecting your PC or other wired devices to the router.

  • Wi-Fi Button: A small round protruding button. Press and hold the button for about 2 seconds, then release the button to turn the router’s Wi-Fi on or off.

  • WPS/Reset Button (below the Wi-Fi button): A small, round recessed hole (needs a pin to press). Press for 1 second to enable the WPS function. Press and hold the button for more than 5 seconds or until the LED blinks to reset the router to its factory default settings. After a reset, wait about 2 minutes for it to restart.

Keep the back panel facing you, there is a 3G/4G USB port is a rectangular slot on the right side of the router. Use this port to connect your 3G/4G USB modem, mobile device, or USB storage device to the router.

At the bottom of the router, there is a recessed label. This label includes: the router’s default network name (SSID) and the MAC address.

Step 2. Set Up Your Router

1. Position your router. Make sure that the router is within reach of an AC power outlet and near Ethernet cables for wired devices. If possible, try moving it closer to a window for better signal.
