How to Setup VOIP Function on VOIP Modem Router
VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology which is used for transmitting voice data through Internet.
Precondition
Take TD-VG3631 as an example. Before setting up VOIP function, please confirm that you can go on Internet smoothly through TD-VG3631. If not, please configure VG3631 to go to internet firstly.
Here, we take Pennytel as an example (The below VOIP account parameters are provided by Pennytel)
Phone Number: 8886164230
Authentication ID: 8886164230
Password: xxxxxxx
SIP Proxy: sip.pennytel.com
Outbound proxy: sip.pennytel.com
Supported codecs: G729 (Preferred), ILBE, GSM, G711u/a, G722 (high def)
All above parameters are provided by your VOIP provider. If you don’t have them, please contact with your VOIP provider to get them.
VOIP Account Setup:
Step 1 Please login on TD-VG3631 management page, and then go to Voice -> SIP Account, Click “Add”.
In the sip account basic section, the items which marked by ‘*’ are necessary items, you must fill them in.
Except the marked items, if your VOIP provider supplies corresponding parameters, please fill them in, otherwise, please leave it blank or keep the default value.
However, different VOIP providers may give these items different names, so please try to confirm them with your VOIP provider. If you can’t understand it, please refer to user guide or contact us.
Step 2 Choose “G.729a/b” as the Preferred Codec, then click “Save”.
Step3 Go back to Voice -> SIP account page. If the “Status” is “UP”, that indicates you have configured VOIP function correctly, and you can enjoy VOIP now!
