Why the signal is not boosted after changing antennas?

  1. Check whether the connector is securely connected. Loosen connection decreases the signal.
  2.  Check whether the gain of the replaced antenna is higher than the original one. You can check the spec on www.tp-link.com for detailed gain of the bundled antennas.
  3. Check whether the impedance is matched. The impedance should be 50 Ohms, otherwise the signal will probably not be boosted.
  4. Do not use extension cable unless it is really necessary. The longer the cable is, the higher the attenuation will be.
  5. Try different locations. By using higher gain antennas the wireless signal will be more focused in a particular direction (Check the antenna’s radiation pattern for detail). Therefore, try adjusting the location of your wireless devices.
