What Should I Do If My VIGI Camera Live View Keeps Stopping

Introduction
In certain business scenarios, there may arise a need for customers to consistently access the live stream functionality of the VIGI camera. For instance, it could be crucial for business owners to monitor their parking lot or their shop while simultaneously attending to other responsibilities, such as checking the warehouse and inventory. However, it is imperative to ensure that both your monitoring device and the camera are connected to the same wireless network, while also verifying the strength and stability of the signal on both devices.
However, some customers may realize that they cannot watch the camera live stream continuously, and they are prompted to continue viewing after several minutes. This article provides troubleshooting tips to help identify and resolve common issues related to continuous live viewing on VIGI cameras.

Troubleshooting
Follow the troubleshooting steps below to identify and resolve the most common causes of Live View interruptions.
Scenario 1: The monitoring device and camera are connected to the same local network
Step 1. Please ensure that your local network connection is stable and functioning properly. You can ping the camera's IP address from the device used for live viewing to verify network connectivity and detect any packet loss or latency issues.
Step 2. For iOS 14 and above, allow “Local Network” permission for the VIGI App, referring to Why Do I Need to Give Local Network Permission to TP-Link Apps in IOS Devices?
Step 3. Ensure there are no special settings on your router, access point, or bridge device. Try to turn off 802.1Q VLAN (or Guest Network) and Access Control List (ACL) on the router that may block the local communication between the camera and your viewing device.
Step 4. Most VIGI cameras support up to three Main Streams and three Sub Streams simultaneously. If multiple devices are viewing the camera at the same time, system resources may be consumed by concurrent streaming sessions. If you're simultaneously viewing the camera on other devices, try temporarily stopping them from accessing Camera Streaming, and test with only one monitoring device to see if you can continuously view the camera video on the local network.
Note: The number of supported simultaneous streams varies by camera model. For detailed stream specifications of a specific model, please refer to the product specifications on the VIGI official website.
Scenario 2: The monitoring device and camera are connected to different networks (remote viewing)
If your monitoring device and the camera are connected to different networks, you are viewing the camera remotely.
When a remote live view session is started, a relay connection is established first while the system also attempts to establish a peer-to-peer (P2P) connection between the monitoring device and the camera. If the P2P connection is established successfully, the live stream can continue without being interrupted by the remote viewing time limit.
If a P2P connection cannot be established, the video stream will continue through the TP-Link Cloud relay service. Continuous relay streaming consumes cloud resources as well as upstream and downstream bandwidth. To optimize cloud resource utilization and reduce unnecessary bandwidth consumption, relay-based live streaming is subject to a viewing time limit. When the limit is reached, a prompt will appear asking whether you would like to continue viewing. Click YES/CONTINUE to resume the stream.
If the live view frequently stops and requires you to confirm before continuing, this usually indicates that the connection remains in relay mode instead of switching to P2P. In this case, check and optimize the network environments of both the camera and the monitoring device to improve the P2P connection success rate. For detailed troubleshooting instructions, refer to Troubleshooting Guide for P2P Playback Failure.
Conclusion
By following the troubleshooting steps below, you should be able to identify and resolve issues that prevent continuous Live View streaming of your VIGI camera.

QA
Q1: If the Live View stream is unstable, will it affect my VIGI camera recording?
A1: No. Live View performance is independent of the camera's recording capabilities. Any lag, buffering, or interruption during Live View affects only the viewing experience and does not impact video recording.
