TP-Link Introduces Archer 8 Ultra, Its First Wi-Fi 8 Router, with Pre-Orders Now Open
TP-Link Opens Pre-Orders for Archer 8 Ultra, Its First Wi-Fi 8 Router
Archer 8 Ultra pairs Wi-Fi 8 performance with TP-Link’s Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine™, AI-driven network management, and built-in security to deliver TP-Link’s most reliable home Wi-Fi experience yet
Highlights:
- TP-Link introduces Archer 8 Ultra, its first Wi-Fi 8 router, powered by Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 8 chipset.
- Its Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine delivers up to 33% more throughput than Wi-Fi 7 at mid-to-long range, plus up to 24% consistent throughput under interference, all on 19 Gbps tri-band hardware with AI-driven management and built-in security.
- Australian pre-orders open today, 1 October 2026, through Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Amazon Australia at an RRP of $1,499 AUD
SYDNEY, Australia - 1 October 2026 - TP-Link Systems Inc. today announced the Australian availability of Archer 8 Ultra, its first Wi-Fi 8 router, marking the arrival of a new generation of home connectivity. Wi-Fi 8 represents a turning point for the networking industry. Where previous generations chased peak speeds, Wi-Fi 8 is engineered for consistency, holding performance steady in the harsh, real-world conditions users face every day.
"Wi-Fi 8 raises the bar for reliability, and Archer 8 Ultra takes it further," said Neville Wang, Managing Director, TP-Link Australia and New Zealand. "By pairing our Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine with intelligent antenna technology and AI-powered optimisation, we've created a smarter, more reliable network that's also easier to use. Australia is one of the first markets in the world to get it, so local households can make the move to Wi-Fi 8 from day one."
Ultra-High Reliability, Powered by Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine
Wi-Fi 8 prioritises real-world reliability while preserving the high speeds consumers expect. TP-Link’s Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine, built into the core of Archer 8 Ultra, strengthens coverage, eases congestion, and cuts interference through a suite of next-generation technologies:
- Available at launch: UEQM, new MCS, and 2×LDPC hold throughput steady in a noisy home, delivering up to 33% more consistent throughput at mid-to-long ranges and up to 24% more consistent throughput than Wi-Fi 7 under interference.* NPCA keeps the network responsive as more devices come online.
- Rolling out via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates: As the standard matures, DSO will expand many-device capacity, ELR and DRU will strengthen coverage at the edges of the home, and Co-TDMA, Co-SR, and Co-BF will coordinate homes with more than one access point.
Peak Hardware, Refined Design
Archer 8 Ultra is powered by Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 8 chipset, built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, paired with hardware and software engineering led by TP-Link’s U.S.-based designers and developers.
Nineteen gigabits of tri-band Wi-Fi 8 deliver steadier performance and lower latency than Wi-Fi 7 at the same range. Two 10 Gbps auto-sensing WAN/LAN ports easily support the latest multigigabit internet plans, while four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports deliver rock-solid wired connections to demanding devices like a PC or games console.
Eighteen high-performance antennas are engineered inside the chassis, covering up to 334 sqm** for as many as 200 devices. The Multi-Floor Mode feature reshapes the signal to match where devices actually are, steering coverage to multiple floors when they are spread across levels and flattening to a wide, single-floor pattern when they are not. A new Wi-Fi 8 RF chip adds Range Boost, sharpening the router’s ability to hear distant, low-power devices, whose weak uplink is the real bottleneck at the edge of coverage.
Built Smarter, Made Easier
TP-Link’s Aireal AI Assistant, built into the Tether app, works on two levels. On the surface, users can interact with it directly, answering plain-language questions about the network and helping them better understand and manage their Wi-Fi. Behind the scenes, it works automatically to keep the connection steady: Wi-Fi Optimiser continuously tunes the router to the clearest channel, Self-Healing resolves common issues, QoS prioritises the traffic that matters, and ECO Mode trims power draw during off-peak hours to save energy.
Setup has never been easier. Out of the box, a tap of the phone to the router pairs it over NFC through the Tether app, which then walks users through the rest. Guests connect the same way, tapping to join without a password to hand over. The Tether app also monitors network status, manages Parental Controls, and personalises settings through one intuitive interface.
Secure From the Ground Up
An integrated hardware-level VPN encrypts selected devices’ traffic directly on the router and works with third-party VPN providers, while isolated guest and IoT networks keep vulnerability-prone devices off the main network. Users can also opt into TP-Link’s HomeShield service for real-time protection, advanced parental controls, and WPA3 authentication.
Pricing and Availability
Archer 8 Ultra is available to pre-order in Australia from today, 1 October 2026, at an RRP of $1,499 AUD from Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Amazon Australia. A global rollout for Archer 8 Ultra and the upcoming Deco 8 Ultra will be announced over the coming months.***
As a pre-order offer, customers who buy Archer 8 Ultra from any of these retailers will receive a free Tapo RV30 Max Plus Gen 2 robot vacuum and mop.
