2. Before You Start

Powerline adapters work in pairs. You should have at least two powerline products to build a powerline network. To optimize your network performance, please follow these principles:

• All powerline adapters should be on the same electrical wiring system.

• Avoid plugging in powerline adapters and high-powered household devices (such as washing machines and refrigerators) close to one another.

• Plug the powerline adapter directly into a wall outlet. Do not plug the powerline adapter into a power strip, extension cord, or surge protector.

An illustration showing two powerline adapters plugged into wall outlets. The left image shows the adapter oriented upright, while the right image shows it oriented upside down. Both orientations are marked with a blue smiley face icon to indicate they are correct and acceptable.

• Use the powerline adapter only in below directions.

A split-frame illustration providing installation instructions for a powerline adapter. The left side, labeled "Wall Outlet" with a blue smiley face icon, shows the adapter plugged directly into a wall socket, while a power strip is plugged into the adapter's passthrough socket. The right side, labeled "Power Strip" with a grey sad face icon, shows the adapter plugged into a power strip, indicating this is an incorrect setup.

• Environment:

Operating Temperature: 0 ºC ~ 40 ºC (32°F ~ 104°F )

Storage Temperature: -20°C~70°C (-4°F~158°F)

Operating Humidity: 10%~90%RH, Non-condensing

Storage Humidity: 5%~90%RH, Non-condensing

3. Set Up a Powerline Network

If you have a wireless router in your house but the wireless signal cannot reach every corner. You can use a Powerline Wi-Fi Kit to extend the wireless network by setting up a new secure wireless network.

Follow any of the following methods to set up a secure Wi-Fi network with your Powerline Wi-Fi Kit.

Method 1. Plug and Play

The network typology displaying how to connect the powerline adapter and extender

1.    Plug the adapter into a power outlet and connect it to the router’s LAN port via an Ethernet cable.
2.    Plug the extender into a power outlet on the same service panel. Wait until the extender’s Powerline LED Powerline LED icon turns on.

Done! Now enjoy the internet by connecting your devices to the internet using the default SSID (network name) and password on the label of the extender.

Disclaimer

Maximum Powerline signal rates are the physical rates derived from HomePlug AV/AV2 specifications. Actual Powerline data throughput and Powerline range are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of network conditions and environmental factors, including electrical interference, volume of traffic and network overhead, AFCI circuit breaker, and Powerline being located in a separate circuit.

Maximum wireless signal rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual wireless data throughput and wireless coverage are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic, and client location.

§Compatible with all HomePlug AV and AV2 Standard Powerline adapters. This product may not be compatible with routers or gateways with firmware that has been altered, is based on open source programs, or are non-standard or outdated.

Smart Roaming is designed for devices that support the 802.11k/v standard. Uninterrupted Roaming only works when Powerline Wi-Fi extender and OneMeshTM router wireless coverage overlaps and already forms a OneMeshTM network.

Actual network speed may be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, Internet service provider factors and other environmental conditions.
