How to troubleshoot Festa access points in the Standalone mode

This article introduces how to troubleshoot Festa Access Points in the standalone mode.

The Festa AP (Access Point) provides a standalone web page for basic troubleshooting. You can upgrade the firmware, reboot and reset the device, and configure SSH (Security Shell).
Note: For device management, please use the Festa Cloud-Based Controller.
To use the standalone web page of the Festa AP, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Open a browser, type in http://tplinkeap.net or http://AP’s IP address in the address field, and press Enter.
- If you PC connects to the AP wirelessly, simply use http://tplinkeap.net.
- If your network has a DHCP server (typically a gateway/router) to assign IP addresses, find the AP’s IP address on the DHCP server.
- If there is no DHCP server, the AP will use the default IP address 192.168.0.254.
Note: Make sure the AP and your computer are in the same subnet.
Step 2. Enter admin for both the username and password to log in.
Note: If the AP has been managed by the Festa Cloud-Based Controller, enter the Device Account set on the Controller to log in.
Step 3. At your first login, set up a new account to ensure system security and confirm AP settings.

Step 3. Now the main page will appear. You can click the menus to check the device status information and configure the corresponding functions.
To upgrade the device firmware, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Download the latest firmware file for the AP from our Download Center (https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/?type=smb).
Step 2. Log into the AP’s web page and go to System > Firmware Update.
Step 3. Click Browse to upload the upgrade file and click Upgrade.
Notes:
1. Select the appropriate firmware that matches your device model.
2. To avoid device damage, DO NOT turn off the device while upgrading.
To reboot the device manually, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Log into the AP’s web page and go to System > Reboot/Reset.
Step 2. Click Reboot to reboot the device. Click Reset to restore factory default settings.
Notes:
1. System Reset will restore the system to factory default settings and your current settings will be lost.
2. To avoid device damage, DO NOT turn off the device while resetting.
SSH server allows you to connect the device remotely and securely to check the device log in case the connection to the controller fails.
To configure SSH, follow the steps below:
Step 1. Log into the AP’s web page and go to Management > SSH Server.
Step 2. Configure the SSH parameters based on your needs for secure remote management. Save the settings.
Following the steps above, you can access the Festa AP’s standalone web page for basic troubleshooting.
