Remote Management can let you manage the router remotely when you are not in the local network of the router. It provides convenience for network management.
There is an example showing how to configure Remote Management.
A customer has a TL-ER6120 and he wants to manage it. But he usually isn’t at the local network of TL-ER6120. He wants to use his PC to manage the TL-ER6120 remotely and his PC connects to the TL-ER5120 which WAN IP is 88.88.88.88.
Step 1 Set up Remote Management.
Choose the menu System Tools->Admin Setup->Remote Management, set up the IP Address for the peer WAN IP.
According to the above configuration, the customer can access http://77.77.77.77 or https://77.77.77.77 to manage the router.
Note:
Mask is used to specify which bits of an IP address need to match exactly. For example, 88.88.88.88/32 represents that only the device whose IP is 88.88.88.88 can manage the router. 0.0.0.0/0 represents that all the remote hosts are allowed to access the router which may result in illegal attack to the device.
Step 2 Set up HTTP/HTTPS server port. (Option)
The default HTTP server port is 80 and default HTTPS server port is 443. If you want to use other specified ports to manage the router, you can configure as follows.
Choose the menu System Tools->Admin Setup->System Setting, set up HTTP/HTTPS server port.
According to the above configuration, you can access http://77.77.77.77:2000 or https://77.77.77.77:3000 to manage the router.
Note:
If the router is behind the NAT device, we need to open the HTTP port and HTTPS port on the NAT device. Then access the WAN IP of NAT device and HTTP/HTTPS port to manage the router.
